Additional Information

The Pool

In the brochure you will find comprehensive instructions for maintaining the swimming pool. The pool should however be cleaned and maintained by a local technician who will call once a week to test the water and clean the pool. However the pool may require additional cleaning if leaves or insects collect in any numbers and removal with the fishing net would be appreciated.

Most important, if the pump fails to operate during the day (usually running from 9.00am - 9.00pm approx. on a time switch) or should there be any other problems then please contact Cedric on 0642 780 758 or myself in the U.K.

Arrival

When you arrive you should find that many of the shutters will be closed and mosquito blinds down (If it has been very hot). The hot water will be on. Our housekeeper "Magali" will have recently prepared the house. Many aspects of "entering the house" and "leaving the house" in the brochure will not apply to you as you will be immediately followed by new guests. If your arrival is likely to be after dark, we will leave a light on inside the house.

Departure

Finally we would ask you on departure to follow the schedule for shutting the house. Please tick each item and return the completed schedule to us in England on your return. Once received, we will return your deposit with whatever deductions have been agreed. Please return the keys separately from the brochure unless we ask you to leave them somewhere near the house for our next guests to find them shortly after your departure.

Various

We provide all hand towels, bath, hand and beach. You should not need to take your own.

Please could you water outdoor potted plants 2 times a week.

Please ensure that Parasols are dismantled and inflatables are put indoors when spending time away from the house. It may be calm when you leave but in this region the wind can pick up very suddenly.

Please respect our neighbours wishes by not hanging washing to dry on the veranda railings and by not playing music too loudly.

INFORMATION UPDATE -VILLA 31. ALLEE DE FONT GROSSE

Since our last information pack there have been a few changes and additions :-

  1. WATERFALL - the water is re-circulated by a pump situated in the pond at the lowest point of the waterfall. The pump operates intermittently from 9.00am -9.00pm approx & the timer switch is situated in the small building garden machinery & tools are kept. The switch is marked "Bassin" - if there happens to be a power cut this will alter the timing but you should not need to do anything.
  2. ELECTRIC FENCE - all around lower garden. TAKE CARE not to touch -can give a nasty jolt! this is to prevent Wild Boar (Sanglier) from entering & ploughing up the whole garden. You will hear a ticking noise from the control box in the building just mentioned (Maisonette).
  3. AUTOMATIC WATERING SYSTEM - Sequence begins approx 12.30 a.m. (Subject to variation). Lawn sprinklers lasting 1/2 hour for each section followed by watering the plants via a trickle feed system. All outdoor Palms & Pot plants will benefit from regular watering & we would be grateful if you could find time to do this as this will ensure their wellbeing for future guests.
  4. THE WIND - We enjoy a fairly constant breeze here & occasionally stronger winds such as the "Tramontan" from the NW. Please take care to put away all inflatables & lounger covers, & lower Parasols at night or before leaving during the day.
  5. THE POOL - latest arrangement is for a Pool Technician to call every Friday to clean & check everything, it will be Cedric. The pump should start at 9.00am & continue till 9.00pm. Please let someone know if this fails to happen (initially try Cedric, failing that call myself in UK.) Equally the water should be crystal clear with no sign of cloudiness or green algae on the bottom or sides. Your only task is to check the drum in the pool house & fill it up when empty. You must add 4Kg Hypochlorite powder to 100 litres of water. The drum holds l00litres) The ladle is marked in grams (700grams per ladle-full).
  6. DRINKS POOLSIDE- Please use plastic glasses only (to be found on shelves in Laundry) Broken glass in a swimming pool can be disastrous!!
  7. GARDEN LIGHTS - These are linked to a time switch, approximate timing is from 9.00pm - 1.00am (provided no power cuts).
  8. CEILING FAN - in sitting room. This is operated by remote control. Handset located right side of fireplace.
  9. OUTDOOR PLANTS - please could you water 2 times a week.
  10. COMPUTOR - WiFi with open access - Password - LIZARD66
  11. KEEPING HOUSE COOL - (i) Close shutters (particularly during the day) with French windows held slightly ajar with their stays (ii) Ceiling fan on "low" setting.
  12. POWER CUTS/ ELECTRICITY CUT OFF - there are 2 locations where contact breakers & mains power switches can be found.
            (i) In small wooden cupboard behind large electric shutter which closes over the windows/doors to lower ground floor bedroom
(ii) In laundry. The most likely switch requiring putting on again will be found in the small wooden cupboard. If you find specific circuits or areas have fused then look for the contact breaker which has tripped & reset it.

    Thank you
